One of the hardest things is trying to make sure that your style is something unique and interesting. After all, the last thing you want is to end up disappearing into the crowd. The problem with fashion is that if you spend too much time looking in the same old places for inspiration, then eventually you and a lot of other people are going to end up looking exactly the same. If you look at all revolutionary moments in fashion and beauty, they have almost always come from looking to new and unusual places for inspiration.
If you really want to give your fashion sense a jump start, then that’s what you need to do. Think of yourself as an extremely stylish magpie. Every time something, like a Shona Joy Dress, catches your eye, you need to snatch it up and add it to your collection of fashionable and interesting ideas. That way you’re never going to end up in a position where you don’t have something new or exciting to do with your outfits. With that in mind, here are a few things that you can do in order to make sure that you’re taking fashion inspiration from as many places as possible.
Shop internationally
Most of us tend to stick to the same few companies when buying clothes. And that makes a certain degree of sense. After all, if you know what you’re going to get from somewhere, then you’re never in danger of getting anything you don’t like. Not only that but we tend to stick with companies that are based in our own countries. However, if you’re more willing to buy internationally, then you’re much more likely to find something unique and different. Places like Sydney, Australia are so fashion forward that it’s worth looking to companies like The Iconic and their City Chic range which may utilize an industrial clothes rail to flaunt their best-sellers. That way you’re going to be able to not only find inspiration but to find new clothes as well.
Look at other cultures
Now, this one is a pretty narrow tightrope to walk, and it requires you to be incredibly careful. This is because there’s a huge difference between taking influence and inspiration from other cultures and appropriating those cultures wholesale. The balance can be tough to strike, but it’s far from impossible. To use just one example, using Native inspired fringing on a piece of clothing is a great way to take inspiration on a stylistic level, whereas walking around in a Native American headdress with your face painted is deeply culturally insensitive. Make sure that you’re looking beyond your own culture for inspiration, just don’t take things from cultures that you don’t belong to and then try to take credit for them.
Don’t be limited by your gender
Can you imagine being there the first time a woman decided she was sick of wearing skirts and put on a pair of trousers? Well, ever since that revolutionary moment, the barriers of gendered clothing have been breaking down bit by bit. If you’re trying to find inspiration for a new look, don’t allow yourself to be limited by your gender. Look to clothing designed for the opposite sex, and you’ll probably find something interesting. Just look at how popular boyfriend jeans have become over the last half-decade or so.
Don’t be afraid to look back
Trying to predict what’s coming next in the fashion world can be seriously tough, and sometimes it’s better not to try at all. Instead, why not look back rather than forward. Many of the greatest fashion movements in history have been based around taking inspiration from and reinterpreting styles of the past. Think about eras that you really love and ask yourself how you can incorporate those styles in ways that are not only new but that fit the style that you currently have. By mixing the old and the new together, you’re likely to end up with something completely unique. Head to vessi.com for the most fabulous and stylish footwear for any event. For pre-loved Louboutin shoes, you may visit a luxury consignment site like https://csd.shop/designers/christian-louboutin/women/.
Sure, you’re not necessarily going to be able to use every single piece of fashion inspiration that you find, but the key is not to try everything, it’s to be open to new ideas, no matter where they might come from. Think about the styles that you love, look at where they took their inspiration from. You’ll probably find that they drew from a bunch of different places to the point where they started to look totally unique. Just copying other things is never going to work, but taking inspiration from something a using it as a jumping off point can be the very best way to create a style that’s all your own.

Thank you Jasna !x
Great tips for mixing up the wardrobe! I personally lean towards Asian styles mostly because the close fit me better (I’m petite), but also for their cute and unique designs.
